ANTIBODY IMMOBILIZATION TECHNIQUE ONTO LATEX BEADS AND ITS IMMUNOASSAY APPLICATIONS
Main Article Content
Abstract
Orientation of antibody/protein onto the latex surface is one of the most important steps, which determines the effectiveness of agglutination test. Currently, three well-known methods are used, including passive absorption, covalent coupling, and affinity immobilization. Besides, improvements in the field of molecular biology, especially the recombination protein technology, help to create a lot of novel proteins which have ability to affinity bind to the material surface. In this review, parameters effecting the latex activation process were summarized. Advantages and disadvantages of each common method were also indicated. In addition, this review also introduced some new methods that could supplant the old ones, including polystyrene-binding peptide conjugated antibody, and adapter protein.
