Abstract

In recent years, the innovation of teaching approach and student assessment have been one of the priorities of Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City to improve the quality of academic programs. Written tests with traditional closed questions are gradually being replaced by non-traditional forms of assessment such as the students' academic performance. In addition to training and assessing students of the level of acquiring knowledge, lecturers nowadays also conduct training and assessing students' soft skill. The tool chosen by many lecturers to assess the current student's soft skills performance at Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City is rubrics. Rubrics is a particularly useful tool for assessing high levels of cognitive learning outcomes in the Bloom's taxonomy, soft skills or attitudes when other evaluation tools depend much on the subjective sense of the examiners and does not guarantee reliability and fairness.
