Abstract
Developing self-study skills for students is an indispensable trend in teaching and learning in universities these days. Owning effective self-study skills, students not only can study well in university but also gain favorable conditions to assert themselves as high quality labors for society. The paper shows a part of the reality of ineffective self-study skills of students in Industrial University of HCMC through: the understanding of students about self-study skills, methods that they use for self-study in class; the way they spend for their self-study time; factors afected the formation of self-study skills in students. From there, some recommendations are made to improve self-study skills and to help students adapt to the changes and demands of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.
