Abstract

This paper presents the results of surveying the structural characteristics (weight, yarn density, thickness) and some mechanical characteristics (tensile strength, elongation at break) and the shrinkage of 3 fabrics for men's shirts. Three fabrics selected for the survey are 100% cotton, 100% PES and a blend of 65% PES and 35% Cotton. Test results on the structural and mechanical properties of these three fabrics will explain their relationship to the textile fiber composition used. Based on the survey results, the quality of the 3 fabrics will be preliminary ranked according to the requirements of durability and ease of care for shirt fabrics to make men's shirt uniforms for lecturers at Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City.
