THE EFFECT OF CEO GENDER ON FIRM PERFORMANCE

Abstract
This paper examines the impact of CEO’s gender on the performance of Vietnamese listed companies. The study analyzes this impact using the regression methods apply to panel data and other related tests to ensure the robustness of the results. The sample consists of 290 observations of 58 companies listed on Ha Noi stock exchange (HNX) and Ho Chi Minh stock exchange (HSX). The univariate analysis shows that there is a statically significant difference in the performance between firms managed by female CEO and Firm managed by male CEO. The multivariate analysis confirms the results indicating that firms with female CEO have higher performance than firms with male CEO. Based on this finding, the study emphasizes the female role in the management area and their contribution to firm performance.
