ANTICANCER AND ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF GANODERMA LUCIDUM AND HUMPHREYA ENDERTII FROM PHUOC BINH NATIONAL PARK
Main Article Content
Abstract
Lingzhi mushrooms are widely used in traditional medicin and bioactivity characterization of new lingzhi mushroom species are nessessary for the development of pharmaceutical technology. In 2016, a new species of the family Ganodermataceae, Humphreya endertii was discovered in Phuoc Binh National Park, Ninh Thuan Province, Vietnam. This study investigated the cytotoxic effect of Ganoderma lucidum and H. endertii extracts on lung cancer cell line NCI H460 and liver cancer cell line Hep G2. IC50 value of G. lucidum and H. endertii extracts, were 1.78 ± 0.35 and 2.25 ± 0.28 mg/ml against NCI H460; 4.53 ± 0.48 and 4.13 ± 1.05 mg/ml against HepG2, respectively. In addition, the extracts of these two fungi also showed antibacterial activity against 5 bacterial pathogens Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella enteritidis and Salmonella typhimurium; G. lucidum extract also showed antagonistic effect against Escherichia coli.
