Main Article Content
Abstract
Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City has a scale of over 1000 lecturers who teach more than 40,000 students participating in the university's training programs. On average, there are 4,500 classes registered in main semesters and about more than 700 classes are active daily which are divided into 5 shifts for a total of 16 periods. To ensure accurate timekeeping with a large number of classes and shifts in a day, especially, to make teachers feel secure when entering the classroom without being influenced by students or waiting for the staffs who check the timekeeping, as well as to ensure the politeness in the educational environment and the self-discipline of the teachers throughout the school, we designed and built an automatic attendance system which lecturer swipes their lecturer's card to operate and after that the staffs will confirm the lecturer's actual teaching by using smart handheld devices that transmit data to the center computer. The system is suitable for the current teaching and learning activities of the university and in line with the development trend of industry 4.0 in digitization and application of information technology. The automatic timekeeping is supported by the school staff because the timekeeping process becomes simple, fast and suitable for the modern educational environment.
