THE MAJOR FACTORS AFFECTING THE INTENTION TO PARTICIPATE IN SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH OF LECTURERS: THE CASE STUDY OF INDUSTRIAL UNIVERSITY OF HO CHI MINH CITY (IUH)

Abstract

Scientific research (SR) is one of the major responsibilities of lecturers. In order to take part in identifying the major factors impact motivation of lecturers in doing SR, the author conducted a quantitative research with 272 research samples that directly collected from lecturers of IUH via the internal email system of IUH. The author did check reliability of the research measures by applying
Cronbach’s Alpha analysis, in addition applying EFA analysis and linear regression analysis. Finally, there are four (04) major factors that have significantly identified influencing the SR intention of lecturers of IUH in decreasing order: (1) Interest in SR, (2) Benefits of SR, (3) SR procedures, and (4) SR environment. This study has contributed to identifying the major factors influencing the intention of lecturers in doing SR as well as providing some managerial recommendations for improving the management system to motivate the IUH's lecturers doing more SR, contributing to enhancing the reputation of IUH.
