Abstract

In the context of globalization and international integration, global citizenship education has become a strategic priority in higher education development. This paper analyzes how students are educated to become global citizens at the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH). Drawing on theoretical frameworks on global citizenship proposed by UNESCO, OECD, and Oxfam, the study surveyed 400 students to assess their levels of awareness, skills, and attitudes toward global citizenship. The findings reveal that most students demonstrate positive perceptions of global citizenship; however, their foreign language proficiency, intercultural competencies, and ability to participate in global activities remain limited. The study also highlights IUH’s efforts to integrate global citizenship education into academic programs and extracurricular activities, while identifying challenges such as limited resources and uneven access to international opportunities. Based on these findings, the paper proposes several solutions to enhance the effectiveness of global citizenship education for students in the context of global integration.
