Abstract
Da Den lake basin is very important for socio-economic development in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. This study aims to assess the water quality of the entire Da Den lake basin and determine the causes of surface water pollution, from there proposing solutions to control pollution. Through methods: survey and interview at waste sources; survey, take samples for analysis of surface water and wastewater; develop water quality index map; and calculating the pollutant load, the research team identified livestock, agricultural and domestic waste as the main sources of waste affecting the surface water environment of the lake basin, especially in the rainy season in parameters TSS, COD, ammonium, nitrate, phosphate, coliform. Four main causes of environmental pollution in the lake basin are drawn from the study, including potential pollution from agricultural activities; pollution from livestock activities; pollution from residential and urban activities; potential pollution from waste sources located in Dong Nai province. On that basis, the authors have proposed technological solutions as well as management, policy, and planning solutions to minimize environmental pollution problems in the Da Den lake basin.
