OPTIMIZATION OF MONOCOQUE BUS FRAME FOR ROLLOVER CRASHWORTHINESS
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study proposes an improved design method for monocoque bus frames under rollover conditions according to the ECE R66 standard by reinforcing the frame with composite ribs made of S2 glass fibers and epoxy. The effectiveness of the method is validated through finite element analysis (FEA) simulations using Hypermesh and the LS-DYNA solver. The results demonstrate that the bus structure reinforced with composite ribs maintains a residual space, meeting the ECE R66 safety requirements. Moreover, the vehicle's weight remains nearly unchanged, providing an optimal solution for sustainable bus frame design. This research offers a pathway toward developing safer, more sustainable, and environmentally friendly public transportation vehicles.
