ESTIMATION THE MAXIMUM DISPLACEMENT OF SINGLE FRICTION PENDULUM BEARING BASED ON EQUIVALENT LATERAL FORCE PROCEDURE
Main Article Content
Abstract
Single friction pendulum bearing is a very effective seismic device for structures. During the movement, the lateral displacement of the bearing is often very large, which is a disadvantage. Therefore, the design engineer needs to have a procedure to determine this parameter quickly and accurately. This paper presents the procedure for determining the maximum lateral displacement of this bearing based on the equivalent lateral force method specified in ASCE/SEI 7-16 standard. This study also evaluates the accuracy of the procedure by comparing it with the time-history analysis of a numerical example. The ground motions selected for the analysis is 14 near-fault ground motion with the velocity pulses. Through the analysis results, the accuracy of the equivalent lateral force procedure for this case is shown.
