AN EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF DOUBLE-SIDE PROCESSING OF CYLINDRICAL ROLLERS USING ABRASIVE PAPER
Main Article Content
Abstract
Cylindrical roller bearing is an important part of the machine and it has been widely used in machinery parts, electric motors, motorcycles, and gearboxes. It capable of supporting high loads and dynamic loads due to the rolling rod and the rollers of bearings being in direct contact. The operational precision and working life of rolling bearings depends on the surface quality and profile accuracy of cylindrical rollers. In this paper, the lapping process with abrasive paper were used to manufacturing the cylindrical rollers with a high efficiency, good surface roughness Ra on a double-side polishing device. The influence of machining parameters such as load, abrasive size and friction coefficients between lapping plate and workpieces on surface roughness of cylindrical rollers were investigated by experiments. Based on the lapping results, the lapping plate with abrasive paper was presented to improve the surface quality of the cylindrical rollers and material removal rate. The results show that, lapping with abrasive paper, the surface roughness Ra decreases from initial 0,17 μm to 0.027 µm, and the material removal rate is increased.
